About this role

Arcadis is seeking a Field Geologist to join the Environmental Team in Midland or Odessa, TX. In this role, you will collaborate with a dynamic and growing team to support projects through all phases of the site evaluation and remediation life cycle.

Your daily and weekly activities will include a mix of field-based tasks such as soil boring, monitoring well installation, soil and groundwater sampling, public water system inspections, and remediation system O&M visits. Local travel to work sites is expected, and occasional overnight travel will be required.

This role sits within the larger Global Resilience Business Area, where we work to protect our natural environment and water resources while powering our world for future generations. You will contribute to environmental investigation, remediation, and permitting projects, working across multiple projects and supporting various project managers.

Requirements

  • Prior experience drilling and logging the lithology of a well or boring.
  • Experience executing environmental assessment activities such as soil and groundwater monitoring.
  • Strong documentation and field note skills.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to meet schedules and budget objectives.
  • Experience working around heavy equipment (preferred).
  • Troubleshooting system or equipment issues (preferred).
  • Knowledge of local and federal environmental regulations (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Install groundwater monitoring wells or soil borings, perform well abandonment, and conduct groundwater monitoring.
  • Execute soil and groundwater sampling, public water system inspections, and remediation system O&M visits.
  • Oversee subcontractors to ensure Arcadis and client expectations for health and safety, task objectives, and work schedules are met.
  • Collect data to support the development of conceptual site models, delineating the nature and extent of contamination.
  • Contribute to the design, modification, or optimization of site remedies.
  • Adhere to health and safety requirements and ensure strong documentation and field note skills.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, internal project teams, and stakeholders.
