About this role

Weston & Sampson seeks an Environmental Scientist / Geologist / Engineer with 5-10 years of experience for a hybrid environment (office/field and remote) based out of Reading, MA or Portsmouth, NH offices. This role involves a strong work ethic and joining a growing team on environmental assessment, remediation, brownfield redevelopment, and multi-disciplinary projects. The candidate will focus on contaminated sites under Massachusetts Contingency Plan (MCP) and/or NHDES Env-Or 600 Rules.

The successful candidate is well-rounded, familiar with MassDEP and/or NHDES regulations, emphasizing assessment and remediation. They may be on track for PG/PE and/or LSP licenses. Daily work includes preparing plans, leading tasks, and managing projects in MA and NH.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in environmental science, geology, engineering, or related field.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience.
  • Experience working in the environmental field with focus on site investigation and remediation of contaminated sites in MA and/or NH and familiarity and experience working with the MCP.
  • Experience overseeing field services (e.g., construction oversight, soils logging, drilling oversight, sampling of environmental media).
  • Ability to manage the workload demands of diverse projects and track and achieve regulatory and project deadlines.
  • Taking ownership of tasks and working collaboratively to achieve client objectives and project goals, including experience delegating and mentoring.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare sampling and analysis plans, reports documenting environmental assessment activities, remedial planning documents, and related activities in accordance with applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Lead project tasks associated with environmental assessments and engineering studies and designs using recognized industry standards and regulatory-compliant approaches at assessment, cleanup and brownfields redevelopment projects in MA and NH.
  • Train and mentor junior staff and oversee junior staff conducting field work.
  • Help develop and define project scope, schedule, and fee, including work procedures, staffing, and sub-consultant assignments.
  • Manage multiple project tasks and assist Project Managers and/or Team Leaders with technical, budgetary and client management aspects of projects, as well as assisting in monitoring and management of project schedules.
  • Participate in professional organizations and technical committees.
  • Assist Project Managers and Team Leaders in pursuing new work opportunities through established client relationships and competitive pursuits, including participation in proposal development and interviews / presentations.
