About this role

APTIM Federal Services seeks a Sr. Level Environmental Geologist to support growth in the Remediation business line. The preferred candidate is a credentialled professional geologist or hydrogeologist with proven experience in characterization and remediation projects in a senior technical role. Primary responsibilities include planning remedial investigations, remedial actions, and optimizing existing remedies.

Responsibilities encompass preparation of proposals and work plans, overseeing and mentoring project staff, and completion of CERCLA reports. Characterize geologic conditions, hydrologic character, contaminant types and distribution to evaluate risks and design remedial measures. Design and execute hydrologic testing to define groundwater aquifers and contaminant fate and transport.

Communicate clearly and confidently, both written and verbally, to project team members, client representatives, government regulators, and APTIM colleagues. Possess strong people skills with a collaborative demeanor. Serve as a mentor to junior and mid-level staff in a team environment.

Requirements

  • Possess a Bachelors' degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science or related discipline
  • 10 to 15 years of experience in the environmental field
  • Licensed as a Professional Geologist is desirable, preferably in California
  • Experience supporting DoD and CERCLA-funded projects
  • Possess 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training with current 8-hour refresher certificate preferred
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record; ability to travel to project sites and APTIM offices as required
  • Core competency in Microsoft Office Products

Responsibilities

  • Apply technical expertise to improve project and proposal effectiveness from a technical, quality and safety perspective
  • Characterize the geologic conditions, hydrologic character, contaminant types and distribution to evaluate risks and provide input for remedial measures
  • Design and execute hydrologic testing to define the character of groundwater aquifers and the fate and transport of contaminants
  • Support project planning and execution in accordance with established policies, procedures, and Federal and State regulations
  • Communicate field results and recommended course of action to project managers, client representatives and regulatory personnel
  • Serve as a mentor to junior and mid-level staff, work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Maintain strict adherence to company safety and quality programs
