About this role
The Unconventional Operations Geologist integrates drilling, injection, completions, and geoscience data to optimize casing design and improve lateral drilling and completions efficiency for assigned wells. This role is central to ensuring safe and efficient well delivery in ExxonMobil's upstream business.
Day-to-day, you will deliver technical recommendations through collaborative pre-drill workshops and detailed pre-drill documentation. You will use log data such as ROP, GR, and MSE along with learnings from offset horizontal wells and Wellbore Stability Models to make precise casing point and well placement recommendations that improve ROP and reduce non-productive time.
You will work closely with drilling engineers to determine optimal casing design, and with the business unit Development Geologist to ensure target windows exclude drilling hazards. The position also provides execution-phase support to geosteering specialists and drilling engineers to help ensure safe and efficient well delivery.
ExxonMobil’s state-of-the-art campus north of Houston in Spring, Texas, brings global functional groups together to foster improved collaboration, creativity, and innovation. The campus was designed to the highest standards of energy efficiency and environmental stewardship, providing employees with the tools and capabilities needed to achieve business objectives.
This role offers the opportunity to contribute to energy innovations that advance modern living while reducing emissions, and to be part of a unique, diverse workforce at one of the world’s largest publicly traded energy and chemical companies.
Requirements
