About this role

This entry-level field position provides on-location geological and drilling data collection and reporting to the customer within the Surface Data Logging (SDL) service line. Under direct supervision, the Logging Geologist learns the job for one of the world's largest providers of products and services to the global energy industry.

Day-to-day responsibilities include gathering drilled cuttings by depth intervals, transporting those cuttings, and keeping records of intervals transported. The role also involves learning the basics of mud logging techniques, data collection and reporting, and gas system operations while maintaining a clean work area.

This position is based in Al-Khobar, Saudi Arabia, and is part of the Sperry Drilling Services product service line within Halliburton's Operations job family. The role requires attendance at induction courses and completion of training appointments to obtain safety, offshore, or other operations or customer-specific certificates necessary to go to designated rig sites.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in a STEM discipline or Geology.
  • Ability to demonstrate technical aptitude.
  • Must possess good communication skills, arithmetic, data entry, and recording skills.
  • Must have successfully passed company tests or met task guideline requirements.
  • Little to no experience in the petroleum or related industries (entry-level position).

Responsibilities

  • Learn the job for the Surface Data Logging (SDL) service line to provide on-location geological and drilling data collection and reporting to the customer.
  • Learn the basics of drilling theory and understand mud logging techniques and job duties.
  • Gather drilled cuttings by depth intervals and transport those cuttings.
  • Keep records of intervals transported and maintain a clean work area.
  • Attend training and perform on-the-job development activities related to mud-logging, data collection and reporting, and gas system operations.
  • Attend and complete induction courses as necessary.
  • Complete training appointments to obtain safety, offshore, or other operations or customer-specific certificates to go to designated rig sites.
