About this role
Haley & Aldrich is seeking a Staff Technician, Civil/Geotechnical Engineer or Geologist 2 to perform field-related technical duties with minimum supervision. This role involves traveling to job sites and working outside the office 95% of the time, tackling clients' most meaningful challenges in the built and natural environments.
Day-to-day tasks include monitoring geotechnical and environmental drilling, producing boring logs with soil and rock classifications, and collecting soil samples. You will use various geotechnical and environmental instrumentation, conduct site reconnaissance, and prepare detailed field reports with figures and photographs.
You will work independently on job sites, coordinate scheduling with contractors, and adhere to site-specific Health and Safety plans. The team is driven by a commitment to technical excellence and continuous learning, fostering a collaborative environment where you can build stronger communities.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geology, or related field.
- 2+ years of related work experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly the ability to produce accurate and concise field notes.
- Basic Microsoft Excel and Word capabilities.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to work independently on job sites and prepare detailed documentation.
Responsibilities
- Monitor geotechnical and environmental drilling and test pits.
- Produce boring logs with soil classifications, rock core classifications, and site geology conditions.
- Collect geotechnical and environmental soil samples.
- Use various geotechnical and environmental instrumentation and equipment.
- Conduct site reconnaissance and prepare detailed notes and photographs.
- Prepare daily/weekly field reports with figures, photographs, and summary tables.
- Perform low flow groundwater sampling.
- Coordinate scheduling with contractors and subcontractors.
