About this role

Barrick Africa Middle East Team is seeking a Production Geologist to join and grow our team at the Tarime operation. This role is central to ensuring that underground production targets are met through diligent geological monitoring and planning.

Day-to-day responsibilities include weekly reviews of planned versus actual development, providing development meters, tonnes, and grades for monthly schedules and forecasts. You will ensure exposed headings are mapped and updated daily without causing production delays, and maintain lithological and structural 3D models in Vulcan and Leapfrog.

You will work closely with the Resource team to assist with block model updates and supervise ore flow from underground to portal pads and the ROM pad. The role also involves supervising and training Geological Technicians and Assistant Geological Technicians, ensuring all team members have Individual Development Plans in place.

  • Proficiency in Vulcan and Leapfrog for 3D geological modeling.
  • Experience with production geology in an underground mining environment.
  • Ability to supervise and instruct Geological Technicians and Assistant Technicians.
  • Competence in compliance reporting (daily, weekly, monthly, yearly) and quality handover notes.

Responsibilities

  • Weekly review of planned vs. actual compared to weekly and monthly plans.
  • Provide development meters, tonnes, and grades for monthly schedules and forecasts.
  • Ensure exposed headings are mapped and updated daily without causing production delay.
  • Update lithological and structural 3D models in Vulcan/Leapfrog.
  • Load available stope shapes and development cuts into Vulcan for required check/adjustment before drilling and blasting.
  • Ensure stope notes, closure notes, and Mining Instructions are completed timely with all geological inputs highlighted.
  • Supervise and coordinate ore flow from underground to portal pads and the ROM pad.
  • Assist with and participate in training programs for the development of all Geologists, Geological Technicians, and Assistant Geological Technicians.
