About this role

Paragon Professional Services, a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation, offers environmental investigation, consulting, compliance, and remediation services to public- and private-sector clients across Alaska and the Continental U.S. We are seeking a Junior Geologist or Junior Engineer to support field investigations and technical reporting from our Seattle or Folsom office.

In this role, you will assist with planning and implementation of environmental and engineering field investigations, conducting soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, soil gas, and vapor sampling. Field activities include supporting drilling operations, monitoring well installation, geotechnical investigations, construction observation, and remediation system implementation.

You will work closely with subcontractors, laboratories, drilling crews, and project team members to coordinate daily field tasks while maintaining compliance with project-specific Health and Safety Plans. Documentation is a key part of the work, requiring detailed field notes, logs, photographs, and daily reports.

Data compilation and evaluation are essential, as you will prepare boring logs, cross-sections, site maps, and technical tables, and assist in developing Conceptual Site Models. Travel to project sites, including overnight stays and extended outdoor work, is expected as part of this field-intensive position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Hydrogeology, Earth Science, or equivalent from an accredited college or university.
  • Ability to travel to project sites and perform field work requiring overnight travel and extended outdoor work in various conditions.
  • Knowledge of environmental sampling procedures, field instrumentation, and standard operating protocols.
  • Proficiency in data management, report writing, and technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with project-specific Health and Safety Plans (HASPs) and federal environmental regulations.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate field vehicles.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with planning and implementation of environmental and engineering field investigations.
  • Conduct soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, soil gas, and vapor sampling activities in accordance with approved work plans and standard operating procedures.
  • Support drilling operations, monitoring well installation, geotechnical investigations, construction observation, and remediation system implementation.
  • Perform field inspections, site reconnaissance, and construction oversight activities.
  • Document field activities through detailed field notes, logs, photographs, and daily reports.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, laboratories, drilling crews, project team members, and clients.
  • Compile, manage, and evaluate field and laboratory data; prepare boring logs, cross-sections, site maps, and technical tables.
  • Assist in preparing technical reports, work plans, specifications, permit applications, and regulatory submittals.
