About this role
SubCom seeks a Geophysicist for a hybrid role involving office-based project preparation, production of deliverables, and vessel-based geophysical data acquisition worldwide. The team deploys high-tech subsea fiber optic cables, comprising over 50% of the Internet's backbone for reliable global connectivity. Every role contributes to engineering, manufacturing, and deployment serving enterprises, governments, and communities.
Daily tasks include planning survey projects, mobilizing vessels, acquiring data with side scan sonars, magnetometers, sub-bottom profilers, and grab samplers. Process and interpret data using Chesapeake SonarWiz, Radex Pro, IHS Kingdom, Oasis Montaj, and GIS. Write reports, perform QA/QC, and validate deliverables for customers.

Requirements
- Familiarity with survey equipment including Edgetech and Klein Side Scan Sonars, Geometrics G882 Magnetometers/Gradiometers and Innomar Parametric Echosounders
- Sound knowledge of offshore geophysical survey data and industry software including Chesapeake SonarWiz, Oasis Montaj and GIS
- Experience in marine geophysical survey, ideally in the coastal zone
- Higher education degree in a geophysical or technically related subject
- Proficiency in writing various survey reports including Mobilisation, Operations and Results
- Ability to work to schedules and meet deadlines
Responsibilities
- Plan and prepare A-2-Sea survey projects
- Mobilise and calibrate survey vessels
- Acquire geophysical data using side scan sonars, magnetometers/gradiometers, sub-bottom profilers and grab samplers
- Process and interpret survey data using Chesapeake SonarWiz, Radex Pro, IHS Kingdom, Oasis Montaj and GIS
- Write reports and interpret results
- Develop A-2-Sea’s geophysical survey processes and procedures
- Provide technical detail into quotations and tenders
- Carry out data QA and QC throughout acquisition and validate deliverables
