About this role

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Geologist / Environmental Scientist to join the team. Use the latest technologies and methodologies to perform environmental site characterization, investigation, and remediation. Deliver a cleaner, safer planet for customers and future generations.

Perform a variety of geological and environmental tasks in field and office settings. Conduct soil, surface water, groundwater, sediment, and other environmental sampling. Supervise drillers and subcontractors while executing projects with health and safety as the top priority.

Complete field documentation including activity hazard analysis forms, field reports, notes, sampling records, and chain-of-custody. Work with project managers using interpersonal and organizational skills to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery. Part of the Critical Infrastructure team designing infrastructure that connects and protects communities.

Assist in geologic and environmental analyses, including hydrogeology and geochemistry. Prepare figures, maps, cross sections, and reports on field work. Unleash talent in an innovative culture valuing people, agility, and growth to achieve full potential.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Geology or related field and typically 3+ years of related work experience
  • Familiarity with related environmental rules and regulations
  • Ability to perform physical exertion such as extended periods of standing, walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces, lifting, and recurring bending
  • Work in adverse weather conditions (e.g., hot, cold, rain, snow)
  • Demonstrated proficiency in both written and oral communication skills
  • Maturity in interaction and ability to operate self-sufficiently in the field or as part of a team

Responsibilities

  • Perform various field and office tasks requiring the application of standard geological and environmental science principles and theories
  • Conduct soil, surface water, groundwater, sediment, and other environmental sampling
  • Perform soil classification and sampling during drilling, test pitting, and excavation activities
  • Supervise drillers and other subcontractors
  • Execute field projects with health and safety as the top priority
  • Complete field documentation such as activity hazard analysis (AHA) forms, project field reports, field notes, sampling records, and chain-of-custody forms
  • Assist in geologic and environmental analyses and interpretation, which may include hydrogeology and/or geochemistry
  • Analyze and interpret environmental sample analysis results within the context of the geological setting
