Schnabel Engineering is an employee-owned firm specializing in geotechnical, geostructural, tunnel, and dam engineering. Recognized as one of the Best Engineering Firms to Work For, we are seeking a mid-level geotechnical engineer or geologist to join our growing team in Sacramento, California.
This role offers the opportunity to contribute to major infrastructure projects across North America, from investigation and evaluation through analysis, design, and engineering services during construction. You will perform engineering activities throughout all phases of a project lifecycle, including leading tasks within projects and managing smaller projects.
Our firm is large enough to work on some of the most complex projects, yet small enough to remain employee-owned and focused on our core practice areas. You will collaborate with a highly skilled, multidisciplinary team that supports client interaction and business development.

Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Civil Engineering, Engineering Geology, Geological Engineering, or Geology
- 6+ years of professional experience or fewer with Master's Degree or PhD
- Licensed Professional Engineer or Geologist
- Ability to work independently on routine tasks
- Experience with geotechnical investigation planning and management
- Proficiency in preparing engineering calculations, drawings, and technical specifications
Responsibilities
- Perform engineering activities throughout all phases of a project lifecycle, including investigation, evaluation, analysis, design, and engineering services during construction
- Lead tasks within projects and manage smaller projects
- Perform calculations to support designs
- Prepare construction drawings and technical specifications
- Support and attend client interaction technically and in business development
- Manage and mentor more junior staff within project framework
- Plan and manage detailed and technically advanced geotechnical investigations
- Prepare boring logs, drawings, and reports
