About this role

We have a great opportunity for a dynamic and motivated Junior / Assistant Hydrogeologist specialising in contaminated land and brownfield development or engineering hydrogeology. Based in our London office with flexible hybrid working, you will join an award-winning group delivering innovative brownfield solutions to major UK infrastructure projects.

You will provide digital and technical input supporting contaminated land and hydrogeological projects. This includes site investigations, conceptual site models, controlled waters risk assessments, numerical modelling and design reports for transportation, energy and water markets.

You will organise and supervise site works including contractors while preparing H&S requirements. Production of complex groundwater models and preparation of Environmental Impact Assessment chapters form core elements of the role across high-profile projects.

Requirements

  • Degree qualified in a relevant engineering or science subject (e.g. hydrogeology, geology, chemistry, environmental science).
  • MSc or PhD in hydrogeology or related subject is preferable.
  • Actively working towards Chartered Membership of relevant professional body.
  • Relevant post-graduate experience ideally within a consultancy environment with a track record of on-time delivery.
  • Demonstrable understanding of land contamination, brownfield land or engineering hydrogeology issues including relevant codes of practice.
  • Experience handling large data sets, developing graphic representations of data or finding new digital ways of working.
  • Willingness to travel and undertake site-based work across the UK.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

  • Provide digital and technical input to projects supporting contaminated land and hydrogeological delivery including site investigations and conceptual site models.
  • Organise and supervise site works including contractors and prepare appropriate H&S requirements.
  • Produce and check complex groundwater models relating to flow, contamination transport and engineering hydrogeology challenges.
  • Prepare relevant Environmental Impact Assessment chapters for a wide range of projects.
  • Manage own work to ensure projects are delivered on-time, on budget and to quality and client expectations.
  • Develop own competence and maintain CPD with support from the business on training needs.
