APTIM Environmental & Infrastructure, Inc. seeks an Environmental Geologist/Scientist for full-time work in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The role involves developing and implementing site investigations and remedial actions, including design, installation, and monitoring of groundwater, surface water, and soil gas systems. It also includes collecting surficial and subsurface soil samples for environmental and geotechnical purposes.
Daily tasks encompass participating in both in-situ and ex-situ remedial actions, with occasional travel to nearby project sites. Field activities require strong interpersonal skills to communicate clearly and confidently, both written and verbally, with project team members, clients, regulators, and colleagues. The successful candidate will lead field efforts and assist in document preparation.
Work occurs in a collaborative team environment focused on safety first, with input on technical, project, and safety issues. Proficiency in planning, conducting, and analyzing aquifer tests is essential. Communication of technical concepts, results, plans, and reports happens during team meetings to ensure standards and procedures are met.

Experience across geologic environments and knowledge of groundwater models support advancing in site investigation and remediation projects. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Geology/Environmental Science or Engineering, or related degree
- 2+ years of experience conducting field investigations and supervising contractors
- 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training with current 8-hour refresher certificate
- Ability to wear proper PPE for work on hazardous waste sites; lifting and physical work required
- Must be able to work in the field in all types of field conditions/weather
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Core competency in Microsoft Office Products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Strong written and oral communication skills
Responsibilities
- Collect environmental samples in the field from various media including groundwater, surface water, soil, and vapor
- Calibrate, maintain, and utilize various field monitoring and measuring instruments
- Analyze and prepare raw data into workable form for engineering/scientific project reports, plans, specifications, permits, cost-estimates, and other project documents
- Install, operate, and maintain remediation equipment including pumps, process equipment, and piping
- Supervise field tasks such as installing and abandoning monitoring/recovery wells
- Communicate technical concepts, evaluation results, plans, reports during work team meetings
- Assist project manager with project management responsibilities
- Plan, conduct, and analyze aquifer tests
