About this role
Interpret and integrate geological data and provide well-site geological support for drilling wells in oil fields. Deliver optimized horizontal well bore placement, final well reports, updated horizontal well cross-sections, maps and formation evaluation logs for recent and previously drilled wells. This role ensures precise targeting in multi-layered carbonate reservoirs.
Utilize mud logging, cuttings description, real-time image logs, and correlations to determine lithology and well path during operations. Make recommendations on well path and target interval corrections to meet well objectives. Employ directional drilling, well planning, depth control measurements, and understanding of BHAs for effective geo-steering.
Work as part of an integrated team of geoscientists, engineers, and technicians to maximize economic recovery from various reservoirs. Provide geological support for interdisciplinary reservoir study and field development plans. Collaborate in an asset team environment focused on carbonate reservoirs.
Develop and mentor less experienced staff to build team capabilities. Gain experience with core handling, preservation onsite, sequence stratigraphy, and surface seismic applications. Incorporate interpretations into 3D geologic models using tools like Petrel and Zmap.
Requirements
- B.Sc. in petroleum engineering or geosciences with minimum 15 years work experience as a petroleum/operations geologist, including minimum 7 years as a well-site geologist geo-steering horizontal wells in multi-layered carbonate reservoirs
- Demonstrated experience with mud logging, cuttings description, real-time image logs, and correlating them to determine lithology and well path
- Demonstrated experience with directional drilling, well planning, depth control measurements, and understanding of BHAs
