About this role
Chevron ENGINE seeks high-performing Technical Geophysicists to join the Earth Science team. The role delivers technical products supporting asset teams enterprise-wide across offshore, onshore, conventional, unconventional, exploration, and development settings.
Key tasks include seismic to well tie, Acoustic Impedance Inversion, Acoustic FD earth model building, Time2depth velocity modeling, and Depth uncertainty analysis. Additional duties cover Seismic data processing support, 4D and CCUS feasibility modeling, routine compliance tasks, and software compatibility testing.
Work effectively in a team environment with close coordination alongside Subsurface Platform Systems Engineers. Demonstrate strong communication skills among diverse technical experts and across geophysics domains.
Gain exposure to geophysical applications in oil and gas, with opportunities leveraging Petrel, DELFI, Hampson-Russell, Jason, ML/AI, and C# programming for reservoir characterization.
Requirements
- MSc degree in Earth Science (Geophysics preferred) from recognised (AICTE) university
- At least 5 years industry experience in technical geophysics including seismic interpretation, seismic-to-well tie, Acoustic Impedance inversion
- Experience in acoustic FD earth model building, Time2depth velocity modeling, Depth uncertainty analysis
- Fundamental knowledge of geophysical workflows applied to subsurface
- Understanding of physical processes associated with earth science, reservoir modeling and subsurface
- Broad knowledge in Time2Depth Velocity modeling, domain conversion, depth uncertainty quantification OR deep expertise in any
- Experience with Petrel, DELFI; familiarity with Hampson-Russell, Jason, seismic processing software
- C# programming skills or Ocean SDK experience
Responsibilities
- Deliver seismic to well tie, Acoustic Impedance Inversion, Acoustic FD earth model building
- Perform Time2depth velocity modeling, Depth uncertainty analysis
- Provide Seismic data processing support, 4D and CCUS feasibility modeling and analysis
- Execute routine compliance tasks and automated/manual software compatibility testing for system upgrades
- Coordinate closely with Subsurface Platform Systems Engineers
- Conduct Quantitative Interpretation including wells-to-seismic tie, wavelets extraction, rock physics modeling, AVO modeling
- Support Seismic processing/Imaging: loading shots/gathers, denoising, parameterizing RTM/Kirchoff/LSRTM/FWI jobs
