About this role
Paragon Professional Services, a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corp, is seeking a Staff Geologist to support environmental investigation and remediation projects across Alaska and the Continental U.S. This role involves planning and conducting geological field investigations, leading sampling activities, and overseeing drilling operations.
Day-to-day responsibilities include directing field teams and subcontractors, documenting activities through detailed field notes and reports, and coordinating with laboratories and project stakeholders. The geologist will evaluate hydrogeological data to support site characterization and develop Conceptual Site Models.
This position offers the opportunity to work on complex environmental projects in diverse settings, from remote Alaskan sites to urban locations. The team is dedicated to producing high-quality documentation and providing safe field execution in line with local, state, and federal guidelines.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Geology, Geological Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in environmental geology or a related field.
- Experience leading soil, groundwater, and vapor sampling activities.
- Proficiency in developing Conceptual Site Models (CSMs) and preparing technical reports.
- Knowledge of federal regulations and Health and Safety Plans (HASPs).
- Ability to travel to project sites and perform field work requiring overnight travel and extended outdoor work.
- Experience with drilling oversight and monitoring well installation.
- Strong data quality review skills and familiarity with QA/QC requirements.
Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and conduct environmental and geological field investigations.
- Lead soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, soil gas, and vapor sampling activities in accordance with approved work plans and standard operating procedures.
- Oversee and conduct drilling operations, monitoring well installation, geotechnical investigations, and remediation system implementation.
- Document field activities through detailed field notes, logs, photographs, and daily reports.
- Direct field teams, subcontractors, drilling contractors, and support personnel during project execution.
- Evaluate geological, hydrogeological, and environmental data to support site characterization and remedial decision-making.
- Prepare and review technical reports, work plans, sampling and analysis plans, and remedial investigation reports.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior geologists, engineers, and field staff.
