About this role
We are looking for a Numerical Scientist (Geophysical Imaging Technology) passionate about engaging with a broad set of disciplines to resolve complex problems for bp’s hydrocarbon and low carbon energy businesses. Join us if you are innovative, creative and love problem solving. You will work with top industry experts in Geophysical Imaging, Subsurface Technology and Computational Sciences.
The Imaging team is part of bp’s Oil and Gas Technology organization, supporting Production and Operations by inventing new ideas, building products, providing expertise, and solving near, mid, and long-term challenges. It works closely with the Center of High-Performance Computing, home to on-prem facilities and computational scientists. You will tackle cutting-edge challenges like solving inverse problems and performing seismic wave simulations.
As a numerical scientist, you will handle signal processing tasks, develop stochastic algorithms, and estimate uncertainties while processing BIG data in static and streaming senses. Communicate complex information to business units, build a vision for the future, and visualize ideas creatively. Work with a lot of computers on challenging business problems.
This role offers opportunities to quickly ramp up on existing technology, find groundbreaking business impacts, write code, and collaborate across subjects. Stay inquisitive amid vast data and computational resources. Engage with bp’s mission to reimagine energy for net zero by 2030.
