About this role
bp Technical Solutions India centre in Pune delivers high-quality subsurface technical products through Global Subsurface Solutions to address prioritised business challenges across Production and Operations worldwide.
As a GSS geologist you will support activity across the global portfolio on projects ranging from resources progression in AGT, Egypt and Asia Pacific to early field development offshore West Africa and large-scale waterflood modelling in the Caspian Sea and Middle East.
You will be deployed into Reservoir Performance or Reserves teams and apply deep technical skills in geology and subsurface integration to deliver integrated subsurface descriptions, reservoir performance models, reserves estimates and well plans.
Within bp’s geological and subsurface communities you will mentor colleagues, share standard methodology and innovate to address technical and business problems while progressing bp’s global oil, gas and low carbon portfolio.
Requirements
- Geology or geoscience degree from a recognised university.
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience as a geologist in oil, gas or CCS exploration, appraisal, development or production.
- Excellent geoscience and subsurface interpretation skills including interpretation workstation skills and seismic interpretation.
- Exposure in appraisal, development and production geoscience in oil and gas assets.
- Ability to integrate diverse static and dynamic subsurface data.
- Delivery of Integrated Subsurface Descriptions.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality geological inputs to progress prioritised business opportunities working closely with other subsurface subject areas.
- Interpret and integrate core, well-log, seismic, analogue and dynamic data to develop coordinated structural, stratigraphic and depositional frameworks.
- Develop appropriate subsurface scenarios that characterise uncertainty and deliver fit-for-purpose technical products.
- Support base management and reservoir management opportunities to improve economic recovery from existing infrastructure.
- Communicate subsurface uncertainty to colleagues and business leaders to enable risk management and mitigation plans.
- Mentor team members, share standard methodology and seek innovative solutions to technical and business problems.
