About this role

APTIM Federal Services seeks a Senior Environmental Geologist to support growth in the Remediation business line. The preferred candidate is a credentialed professional geologist or hydrogeologist with proven experience in characterization and remediation projects. Primary duties include planning remedial investigations, implementing actions, and optimizing existing remedies.

Daily work involves preparing proposals and work plans, overseeing project staff, and completing CERCLA reports. The role requires characterizing geologic conditions, hydrologic character, contaminant types, and distribution to evaluate risks and design remedial measures. Hydrologic testing defines groundwater aquifers and contaminant fate and transport.

Strong communication skills are essential to convey field results to project managers, client representatives, and regulators. The position demands collaborative people skills and mentoring junior and mid-level staff in a team environment. It is based out of the Concord, CA office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science or related discipline
  • 10 to 15 years of experience in the environmental field
  • Licensed as a Professional Geologist, preferably in California
  • Experience supporting DoD and CERCLA-funded projects
  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training with current 8-hour refresher preferred
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record and ability to travel
  • Core competency in Microsoft Office Products

Responsibilities

  • Apply technical expertise to improve project and proposal effectiveness from technical, quality, and safety perspectives
  • Characterize geologic conditions, hydrologic character, contaminant types and distribution to evaluate risks and design remedial measures
  • Design and execute hydrologic testing to define groundwater aquifers and contaminant fate and transport
  • Plan and implement remedial investigations, remedial actions, and optimize existing remedies
  • Support project planning and execution per Federal and State regulations
  • Communicate field results and recommended actions to project managers, clients, and regulators
  • Mentor junior and mid-level staff while working collaboratively
  • Prepare proposals, work plans, and CERCLA reports
