About this role

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Environmental Scientist or Geologist to join the team. In this role, you will perform a variety of routine and nonroutine tasks in support of the professional staff within the environmental group. Work assignments may be in the office and/or at field sites, with a willingness to travel expected.

You will conduct field investigations and maintain documentation in record logs. Independently perform routine environmental media sampling including soil, soil gas, groundwater, surface water, and sediment. Oversee drilling installation of soil borings and monitoring wells, along with excavation and contractor coordination at petroleum facilities.

Support operations, maintenance, and monitoring of remediation systems, such as fluid monitoring, sampling, and oil mobility evaluation. Use environmental sampling equipment and monitoring devices while scheduling subcontractor activities. Apply and conform to company and client health and safety programs during tasks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a science curriculum related to the assigned discipline
  • 3+ years of related work experience
  • Ability to work at high elevations, lift and carry 30+ pounds, pull, stand, and work in confined spaces, crouch for long periods, and work under inclement cold weather conditions
  • Knowledge of methods and precautions in storing and handling chemicals
  • Ability to work with others in a professional team environment, as well as independently when required

Responsibilities

  • Conduct field investigations and maintain documentation in record logs
  • Independently perform routine environmental media sampling including soil, soil gas, groundwater, surface water, and sediment
  • Oversee drilling installation of soil borings and monitoring wells, monitoring well development, slug testing, and soil/rock borehole logging
  • Oversee excavation and coordinate contractors at retail and commercial bulk petroleum facilities
  • Support operations, maintenance, and monitoring of remediation systems including fluid monitoring, sampling, and oil mobility evaluation
  • Assist in data compilation and interpretation for remediation system operations and performance
  • Use environmental sampling equipment and monitoring devices
  • Assist in preparation of project planning and task documentation including safety assessments and scope of work
