About this role
Harbour Energy is one of the world’s largest independent oil and gas companies, producing 475,000 to 485,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day with operations in Mexico and other regions. The Lead Geologist role focuses on developing subsurface geological studies and 3D static models that support development planning, well placement and reservoir characterisation across BU assets.
Day-to-day work involves integrating seismic, well log and core data into coherent geological interpretations while supporting hydrocarbon volumetric estimation. The position also provides operational geology support including well initiation, drilling follow-up and post-well evaluation as project priorities require.
Harbour maintains an inclusive workplace where individuals bring their whole selves to the job and feel recognised for the value they add. The company is committed to a genuinely supportive environment and recruits based on unique skills regardless of background.
Team members contribute to internal technical reviews, Peer Reviews and Peer Assists while representing the discipline in JV partner technical meetings. This role offers the opportunity to help shape the future of a company focused on safe, responsible energy production.
Requirements
- Expertise in building and reviewing 3D structural and facies models for development and appraisal wells.
- Proficiency integrating seismic attributes with well log and core data for reservoir characterisation.
- Experience generating property maps and assessing reservoir heterogeneity to support STOIIP/GIIP estimation.
- Ability to develop cross-sections, structural maps and facies maps integrating seismic and well data.
- Competence correlating well logs across development and appraisal wells to refine reservoir architecture understanding.
- Knowledge of operational geology practices including well planning and post-well evaluation.
Responsibilities

- Prepare subsurface planning and geological studies including conceptual geological models, depositional environment interpretation and reservoir framework definition.
- Build 3D structural and facies models supporting well placement and dynamic simulation work.
- Integrate seismic attributes, frequency decomposition and iso-proportional slicing to identify infill drilling and workover opportunities.
- Ensure all activities are carried out in a safe manner complying with regulatory requirements and Harbour Energy HSES Procedures.
Benefits
- Inclusive workplace where individuals feel recognised for the value they add.
- Genuinely inclusive and supportive working environment ensuring a positive experience at work.
- Recruitment and promotion based on unique skills regardless of race, gender or background.
