About this role
VHB is seeking a Senior Environmental Engineer, Geologist, or Hydrogeologist to join our growing National Site Investigation & Remediation (SI&R) practice as a Project Manager. This hybrid role can be based out of New England offices or New York City. The SI&R team manages properties impacted by hazardous substances and petroleum releases across the full project lifecycle.
Daily work involves partnering with public and private clients to identify and mitigate environmental liabilities. Develop and manage site investigation and remediation field programs, including Phase I and Phase II assessments. Provide mentoring to junior team members during field exploration and testing.
Collaborate with a talented multidisciplinary team on diverse projects across multiple US jurisdictions. Leverage technology for data management and visualization while interpreting investigation findings. Foster exceptional client service in a supportive, team-oriented culture.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering, Geology, or related field required
- 8+ years of professional environmental site characterization and remediation experience required
- Master’s Degree preferred
- OSHA 40 hr. HAZWOPER certification and annual refresher certifications required
- Professional Licensure or Certification (PE, PG, CHMM, QEP)
- Strong understanding of State and federal regulatory requirements including CERCLA
- Strong knowledge of site assessment/characterization, data/statistical analysis, remediation techniques, and risk assessment
- Experience working on contaminated sites within multiple jurisdictions including interaction with regulators
- PFAS experience and knowledge preferred
Responsibilities
- Work closely with clients to identify and mitigate environmental liabilities associated with property they own or manage
- Develop and manage effective site investigation and remediation field programs
- Provide mentoring and hands-on support to junior team members during field exploration and testing
- Develop conceptual site models to help interpret and communicate investigation findings
- Leverage technology to support data management and visualization
- Manage Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, Engineering Evaluation/Cost Analyses, Remedial Investigation/Feasibility Studies and long-term monitoring programs
- Review and write technical reports, correspondence, notes, and memoranda
