About this role
WSP Italia is seeking a Geologist to join the Development & Remediation Industrial & Commercial Business Unit. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary and cross-national team on environmental projects in Italy and worldwide. WSP provides world-class expertise in contaminated site management, hydrogeology, risk assessment, remediation design, and complex industrial projects.
In this role, you will perform environmental tasks requiring solid understanding of environmental science and remediation engineering principles. Support technical design including Site Characterization Plans for soil, groundwater, soil-gas, waste, and ambient air. Assist with conceptual studies, remediation calculations, simulations, and preparation of reports, specifications, and tender documents.
Conduct field activities such as site investigations with piezometer installation, drilling supervision, sampling, and aquifer tests. Assist in remediation system installation, commissioning, performance testing, and O&M. Support due diligence on industrial facilities and brownfield/greenfield sites, plus progress monitoring.
Contribute to Human Health Risk Assessment, contaminant fate & transport modelling, and hydrological/hydrogeological modelling. Coordinate with geology, hydrogeology, H&S, and permitting teams. Support Project Managers on scheduling, controls, quality assurance, and provide direction to junior professionals.
Maintain high-quality work within scope, schedule, and budget while following commitments and safe habits. Build a professional network across the business to support workload and career growth. Be open to feedback and handle a wide variety of tasks effectively.
Requirements
- 3-5 years maximum experience as Geologist in environmental consulting, preferably focused on contaminated site investigation
- Solid understanding of environmental science and remediation engineering principles
- Experience supporting site characterization plans and feasibility studies
- Familiarity with remediation systems such as pump & treat, SVE, air sparging, chemical oxidation, and bioremediation
- Knowledge of field activities including drilling supervision, sampling, and aquifer tests
- Ability to contribute to risk assessment and hydrogeological modelling
- Proficiency in drafting technical reports and environmental assessments
Responsibilities
- Draft Site Characterization Plans for soil, groundwater, soil-gas, waste, and ambient air

- Prepare Remediation Reports, technical specifications, bills of quantities, and tender documents
- Support site investigation campaigns including piezometer installation, drilling supervision, sampling, soil-gas surveys, and aquifer tests
- Assist in installation, commissioning, performance testing, and O&M of remediation systems
- Conduct field verifications, progress monitoring, and reporting
- Contribute to Human Health Risk Assessment and contaminant fate & transport modelling
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and support Project Managers with scheduling, project controls, and quality assurance
