Serve as field lead for hydrogeologic investigations and conduct field logging with oversight of drilling subcontractors, including bedrock drilling and well construction. Support subsurface investigations and groundwater monitoring events while collecting soil, water, air, and other environmental samples. Maintain field equipment, follow protocols for accurate data, and prepare detailed field notes and photo logs.

Conduct regular monitoring of environmental conditions, tabulate chemical, stratigraphic data into tables, figures, and graphs. Perform evaluations of groundwater data including trend analyses, intra-well and inter-well comparisons. Adhere to health and safety guidelines, reporting concerns immediately, with flexibility for travel including overnight stays and long field days.

Requirements

  • 3-6 years of experience that includes conducting drilling oversight and well installation, environmental sampling, subsurface investigations, tabulating and presenting data, and using GIS for digital map representations
  • BS in Geology or closely aligned field of study with relevant coursework
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Experience with groundwater sampling using various methods including low-flow sampling
  • Experience with stratigraphic logging using various drilling methods potentially including hollow-stem auger, direct-push, air rotary, and rock coring

Responsibilities

  • Serve as field lead for hydrogeologic investigations

  • Support field subsurface investigations and groundwater monitoring events
  • Conduct fieldwork to collect soil, water, air, and other environmental samples
  • Record and manage data from field samples and environmental monitoring
  • Tabulate chemical, stratigraphic, and other data to produce tables, figures, and time-series graphs
  • Conduct evaluations of groundwater data, including trend analyses, intra-well comparisons, and inter-well comparisons
  • Adhere to all health and safety guidelines and report safety concerns immediately
