In a context of digital transformation of geosciences, TotalEnergies develops solutions to accelerate innovation, automation and integration of AI into subsurface workflows. The role sits at the heart of two strategic initiatives focused on a next-generation geological interpretation platform and a data science platform for rapid AI solution deployment.

Day-to-day work centers on prototyping automatic or semi-automatic geological interpretation and modeling workflows inside the data science environment according to specifications from business experts. Additional activities include prototyping AI solutions, notably generative AI, for concrete use cases in exploration and energy resource development.

The position is based in Pau at CSTJF within a multidisciplinary team handling digital issues for geosciences. Close interaction occurs with business experts, data scientists and technology partners, with occasional travel to Montpellier development teams.

The apprenticeship offers direct involvement in digital subsurface ecosystem projects that combine geoscience domain knowledge with emerging AI technologies and platforms.

Requirements

Background in geosciences, earth science or data science.
Familiarity with AI and machine learning techniques applied to subsurface data.
Ability to translate business expert requirements into technical prototypes.
Experience with data science environments and workflow prototyping.

Responsibilities

Prototype automatic or semi-automatic geological interpretation and modeling workflows in the data science environment according to business expert specifications.
Prototype AI solutions, including generative AI, for geoscience applications and deploy them as POCs or demonstrators.
Contribute to the development of a next-generation geological interpretation platform integrated into the digital subsurface ecosystem.
Support rapid design, prototyping and deployment of digital solutions embedding AI for geosciences on the data science platform.
Work on concrete use cases linked to exploration and development of energy resources.
