About this role

The GIS Specialist reviews, processes, and posts information concerning installation, maintenance, and operation of company facilities in Esri Geographic Information System. This position uses PaperVision Enterprise and PaperVision Capture to maintain permanent records for company gas facilities following specific indexing standards.

Daily tasks include processing facility information and maintaining technical proficiency in FOMS, FieldSmart, AutoCAD, Excel, and Esri GIS. The role involves preparing facility design and construction drawings, performing field visits, and operating peripheral devices like plotters, scanners, and printers.

In this team environment, provide support during emergency response incidents, train and assist others, and quality check employees and contractors. Communicate effectively with field personnel regarding design drawings, measurements, and basic gas flow characteristics while quality checking as-built drawings.

Ensure duties comply with company, local, state, and federal regulations, safety practices, and emergency procedures. Promote good public relations, use company-approved equipment to gather GPS data on gas facilities, and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • One year of experience working in an engineering office or equivalent; technically oriented high school or college studies may substitute
  • Knowledge of drafting practices and skills
  • Knowledge of technical layout procedures
  • Knowledge of office equipment including reproduction equipment, calculators and personal computers
  • Knowledge of mapping, record keeping and design standards
  • Advanced PC and workstation fundamental knowledge
  • Knowledge in Windows operating systems, FOMS, Esri GIS and AutoCAD software applications preferred
  • Valid driver’s license

Responsibilities
