About this role

At Picarro, Software Engineering focuses on developing and deploying industry vertical applications to clients in the Scientific and Energy communities. This role centers on solutions such as greenhouse gas emissions quantification, pipe replacement, and advanced leak detection for gas utility and pipeline customers. Products feature web-based user interfaces backed by geoprocessing, data, and ML services within Picarro’s analytical suite.

The software engineer participates in the design, programming, testing, documentation, and implementation of applications and related processes. Identify and evaluate development options, assess future needs for key technologies and techniques, and develop plans for adoption. Handle multiple technical requests and project deadlines simultaneously.

This position reports to the Software Development Manager and is onsite in the Bangalore, India office. Collaborate daily with a global team of software engineers, data scientists, analysts, and product managers using online communication channels. Work directly with product stakeholders and product management to understand use cases and synthesize business requirements.

Apply software development best practices including version control with Git, code review, and testing. Document technical details using Jira and Confluence. Broader skills are desired as products integrate into Picarro’s larger distributed framework.

Requirements

5+ years of overall software development experience
4+ years of experience developing responsive web applications using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
3+ years of experience developing GIS web applications using ArcGIS Maps SDK for Javascript 4.x or ArcGIS API for JavaScript 3.x
3+ years of experience leveraging REST calls to ArcGIS Enterprise or ArcGIS Online data layers using ArcGIS REST APIs
1+ years of experience with a modern web UI library, like React, Vue, Angular, or Svelte
1+ years of cloud development (e.g. AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and software container technologies (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes)
1+ years of experience with SQL for analytical use cases
Familiar with Agile methodologies and processes

Responsibilities

Work directly with product stakeholders and product management to understand product use cases and synthesize business requirements
Design, develop, and deploy high-performance multi-tenant GIS applications using ArcGIS Maps SDK for Javascript 4.x
Write production-quality code that creates responsive web applications
Handle multiple technical requests and project deadlines simultaneously
Collaborate daily with a global team of software engineers, data scientists, analysts, and product managers using a variety of online communication channels
Apply software development best practices including version control (Git), code review, and testing
Document technical detail of work using Jira and Confluence
