We are currently seeking a Staff Environmental Engineer or Geologist 2 to work in a technical support role with highly skilled professionals on diverse project teams. This role is approximately 80% in the field and 20% in the office, located in our Seattle office.
In this position, you will independently conduct field investigations of soil, soil vapor, groundwater, and surface water using approved industry standard procedures. You will also conduct basic construction observation and support field data organization and synthesis, working with teams of passionate colleagues driven by technical excellence.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology or related field.
- Minimum 2+ years of related experience.
- Geologist-in-Training certificate.
- Proficient technical writing, verbal communication, reasoning, and time-management skills.
- Able to work independently or with minimal direction in performing tasks under the direction of senior staff.
- Desire to learn and grow in your profession, demonstrate a positive attitude, strong work ethic, resourcefulness, flexibility, and ownership.
- Experience with Microsoft Office 365 software.
- Able to meet physical requirements: lift 50 lbs., traverse unstable/sloping sites, work outside in range of weather conditions, and have stamina for moderate activity for majority of field hours; able to travel with overnight stays.
Responsibilities
- Independently conduct field investigations and assessments of soil, soil vapor, groundwater, surface water, etc., using approved industry standard procedures.
- Use results of field investigations such as subsurface explorations, monitoring well construction, and field sampling to support site characterization.
- Conduct basic construction observation, including quality control documentation and field testing tasks.
- Support field data organization, reduction, and synthesis.
- Prepare and maintain accurate and detailed documentation of activities both in the field and during data evaluation.
- Apply academic training and use computer software to perform calculations and evaluation of available site data.
- Draft technical sections of project communications and reports.
- Assist with development of technical scopes of work and cost estimating for proposal efforts on small- to medium-sized tasks.
