About this role
RPS is seeking an experienced Principal to join our Contaminated Lands team in Perth, based in Subiaco with flexible hybrid working. This senior leadership role delivers technically complex and high-impact environmental projects across Western Australia and beyond, shaping remediation projects with a leading environmental team.
In this role, you will lead contaminated land investigation and remediation projects from proposal through to delivery. You will manage field programs, review analytical data, and provide practical remediation solutions, while preparing and reviewing technical reports including PSI, DSI, SAQP, RAP, and SRV documentation.
You will join a collaborative national network of environmental engineers, scientists, geologists, hydrologists, and hydrogeologists. The team works across contaminated land assessment, remediation, hazardous materials, and risk management for a diverse client base, known for being practical, approachable, and solutions-focused.
This role is ideal for a technically strong consultant who enjoys mentoring others and building client relationships. You will contribute to business growth, project strategy, and team capability, supported by ongoing technical and professional development programs to advance your career.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in contaminated land assessment and remediation within Australia
- Strong knowledge of contaminated land guidelines and regulatory frameworks including NEPM, DWER, and DoH guidance
- Experience managing complex projects and coordinating multidisciplinary teams
- Excellent report writing, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
- A practical, solutions-focused, and collaborative approach
- Certified Environmental Practitioner (CEnvP) status or ability to obtain
Responsibilities
- Lead contaminated land investigation and remediation projects from proposal through to delivery
- Manage field programs, review analytical data, and provide practical remediation solutions
- Prepare and review technical reports including PSI, DSI, SAQP, RAP, and SRV documentation
- Deliver human health and ecological risk assessments
- Support hazardous materials inspections, management plans, and clearance programs
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, regulators, and stakeholders
- Mentor and support junior consultants across technical delivery and career development
- Contribute to business growth, project strategy, and team capability
