About this role

At Environment Bank, we’re working together to help restore natural habitats across England, delivering biodiversity gains and helping ecosystems recover. We are looking for a GIS Developer to bring technical expertise to further develop our ArcGIS Online platform, along with process automation and data pipelines for Land Management and Habitat Delivery teams.

You will design, develop, implement and support geospatial data applications using Field Maps, Survey123, and the ESRI web applications suite. Troubleshoot technical problems with the Geospatial Team and field-based end-users, while mentoring colleagues in process automation and web GIS development.

Requirements

  • Strong development experience within ArcGIS Online or Enterprise, specifically including Field Maps, Survey123 and the associated ESRI suite of web applications for data visualisation
  • Experienced user of ArcGIS Pro desktop software
  • Experience with relevant programming languages for geospatial data pipelines and applications – Python (arcpy, arcgis, geopandas), Javascript, ESRI’s Arcade
  • Strong understanding of the principles of good data management and quality assurance/quality control
  • Good level of experience in creating in-field data capture maps and forms for deployment to field workers
  • A degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science or similar subject (or equivalent professional experience)
  • Experience managing and maintaining code repositories (e.g. Git/GitHub)
  • Experience within the ecology, environment, land management or related sector

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, implement and support geospatial data applications in ArcGIS Online platform, specifically Field Maps, Survey123 and the wider suite of ESRI web applications
  • Troubleshoot and identify technical problems with colleagues in the Geospatial Team and end-users in field-based teams
  • Mentor colleagues in the Geospatial Team in areas of technical development such as process automation and web GIS development
  • Contribute towards high-quality monitoring and data capture on habitat banks and web visualisation of spatial data including dashboards, story maps and 3D models
  • Lead the ongoing development of in-field and web spatial data capture and management systems and associated data design standards
  • Onboard and train new colleagues to use web, desktop and in-field geospatial data systems
