About this role

At WSP, you will shape a career as unique as you, joining a global team of diverse, talented individuals. As a Principal Hydrogeologist in Ireland, you will work with industry-leading hydrogeologists who develop and maintain the UK industry standard software ConSim and LandSim.

You will lead projects and line-manage staff, delivering environmental consultancy services to external and internal clients. Day-to-day technical work includes developing conceptual models, interpreting hydrogeological and geological data, and performing risk assessment modelling for contaminated land and landfill.

You will be supported by a collaborative team of Project Managers and Directors within the UK and Ireland team. The role offers direct mentoring and career development from the hydrogeologists behind ConSim and LandSim, ensuring continuous growth.

Beyond project delivery, you will evaluate opportunities, prepare proposals, and maintain strong business relationships to meet commercial targets. You will also coach team members, promote an inclusive workplace, and contribute to the wider success of the Ground and Water team.

Requirements

  • Achieved Chartership or actively seeking professional qualification at Chartership level or equivalent
  • Demonstrable progress toward professional qualification with a clear submission target date
  • Strong commercial awareness and accountability with timely completion of finance systems
  • Experience in developing hydrogeological conceptual models and source-pathway-receptor linkages
  • Ability to manage hydrogeological data and interpret geological data
  • Proven ability to lead and coach team members, providing constructive feedback
  • Excellent client relationship management skills with regular client visits and feedback reviews
  • Experience preparing proposals for technically challenging projects or those with values over £100k net revenue

Responsibilities

  • Leadership of projects and line management of staff, providing high-level environmental consultancy services
  • Proactive project management of complex projects with strong commercial awareness and timely invoicing
  • Provide technical direction and robust reviews of technical work with constructive feedback
  • Manage hydrogeological data, develop conceptual models, and interpret geological data
  • Use and learn software such as ConSim, LandSim, P20, FeFlow, Modflow, and Seep/W
  • Perform hydrogeological risk assessments, dewatering studies, pumping tests, yield tests, and modelling
  • Lead by example on process, procedure, BMS, and other protocols
  • Build strong client relationships, identify opportunities, and develop proposals for complex projects
