About this role

This is an on-call, remote position with opportunity to transition full-time. The Biological GIS Specialist II supports projects including utility, transportation, telecommunications, and energy infrastructure. The role involves querying data using custom tools and applying standard cartographic techniques to templated figures for environmental review reports.

Use geospatial software to create static maps from templates for technical reports to local, state, and federal agencies. Process, interpret, and maintain geospatial vector data in various file formats. Proficiently utilize standard and custom geoprocessing tools, definition query techniques, and ArcGIS Online maps.

Process field-collected data while adhering to established GIS procedures and company data structures. Reliably produce consistent, accurate products to meet fast-paced deadlines. Support Eocene Environmental Group's culture of safety and employee ownership, complying with applicable laws and policies.

Eocene Environmental Group, part of Wright Service Corp., integrates forestry, environmental, technology, and sustainability divisions. The team provides environmental, utility vegetation management, software, and sustainability services with two decades of experience. Candidates must be in the contiguous US, ideally California or able to work Pacific Time business hours.

Requirements

  • BA/BS Degree or Technical Certificate in GIS and 4+ years of GIS work experience
  • Experience with Esri Enterprise and other geospatial software such as ArcMap, ArcPro, QGIS
  • Understand standard cartographic and database management principles
  • Proficient in a wide array of geoprocessing tools and techniques
  • Comprehension of ESRI ArcGIS Online platform and publication
  • Capable of effectively managing files for complex projects with or without enterprise-level tools

Responsibilities

  • Use geospatial software to create static maps from templates for technical reports
