About this role
Interpret and integrate geological data and provide well-site geological support for drilling wells in oil fields. Deliver optimized horizontal well bore placement, final well reports, updated horizontal well cross-sections, maps and formation evaluation logs for recent and previously drilled wells. The role focuses on positioning horizontal wells into targeted zones.
Perform mud logging, cuttings description, real-time image logs, and correlate them to determine lithology and well path. Make recommendations on well path and target interval correction to meet well objectives. Utilize experience with directional drilling, well planning, depth control measurements, and understanding of BHAs.
Part of an integrated team of geoscientists, engineers, and technicians striving to maximize economic recovery from various reservoirs. Provide geological support for interdisciplinary reservoir study and field development plans. Work in carbonate reservoirs with multi-layered targets.
Develop and mentor less experienced staff. Gain operational experience with horizontal well planning, geo-steering, and construction. Apply sequence stratigraphic concepts and oversee core handling and preservation onsite.
Requirements
- B.Sc. in petroleum engineering or geosciences with minimum 15 years work experience as a petroleum/operations geologist, out of which minimum 7 years as a well-site geologist working to position (geo-steer) horizontal wells into targeted zones of multi-layered carbonate reservoirs
- Demonstrated experience with mud logging, cuttings description, real-time image logs, and correlating them to determine lithology and well path
- Demonstrated experience with directional drilling, well planning, depth control measurements, and understanding of BHAs
- Demonstrated experience of making recommendations on well path and target interval correction/revision to meet well objectives
- Experience in Geo-steer, Horizontal wells and using advance LWD tools
- Experience with Core handling and oversee core preservation onsite
- Understanding of the application of sequence stratigraphic concepts and methods
- Fundamental knowledge in aspects of surface seismic acquisition and processing
