About this role
The Geosolutions Geophysicist contributes expertise in acquisition and processing techniques, geophysics, and a working understanding of interpretation and inversion. Based in Houston, this role partners with customers to advise on processing parameters and deliver high-quality seismic data solutions.
Day-to-day responsibilities include processing data with appropriate technology and software, defining and submitting test jobs, and interpreting results to recommend optimal parameters. The geophysicist validates the accuracy and efficiency of all testing and production job sequences, and archives completed projects.
This role works closely with the Project Leader on daily project and personnel management, including velocity picking and quality control. The geophysicist also forecasts resource requirements, reports project status, and mentors junior staff to build team capability.

Requirements
- PhD in Computational Physics, Applied Math, Geophysics, or equivalent knowledge level
- Expertise in various acquisition and processing techniques and geophysics
- Understanding of interpretation and inversion
- Ability to organize and delegate work within a project team
- Forecast resource requirements and report project status
- Archive projects in a structured manner
Responsibilities
- Interface consistently with customers and advise them regarding processing parameters
- Process data using the appropriate technology and software
- Ensure that processed data is delivered to customers on schedule
- Define, build and submit test jobs; interpret test results; provide recommendations on parameters and recommend further testing if required
- Validate the accuracy and efficiency of all testing and production job sequences
- Keep abreast of developments within seismic data processing and communication and data transfer techniques
- Investigate and report on problems encountered during the course of seismic data processing
- Mentor junior staff and assist the Project Leader with daily project and personnel management, including velocity picking and quality control
