Harbour Energy

Mexico City, MX · Full-time · MXN 900,000 – MXN 1,400,000

About this role

Harbour Energy is one of the world’s largest independent oil and gas companies, producing 475,000 to 485,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day across Norway, the UK, Germany, Argentina and North Africa. The Senior Geo-modelling Geologist role supports exploration and development projects in Mexico by delivering high-precision geological models that predict subsurface characteristics and guide efficient resource extraction.

Day-to-day work centres on building and interpreting 3D structural models, geological cross-sections, structural and facies maps, and property maps that assess reservoir heterogeneity. The geologist integrates geophysical data such as attribute maps, frequency decomposition and iso-proportional slicing to evaluate well opportunities and support numerical reservoir simulations.

The position interfaces daily with geophysicists and drilling engineers to align geological models with seismic data and drilling operations, optimising well placement and maximising hydrocarbon recovery. All modelling activities must comply with regulatory requirements, Harbour Energy HSES procedures and the company’s Ethics and Compliance Policies.

Harbour maintains an inclusive workplace that recognises the value each person brings and recruits, retains and promotes people based on their unique skills regardless of background. The company offers growth options in conventional offshore projects in Mexico while remaining committed to safe, responsible production and a leading CO2 storage position in Europe.

Requirements

  • Advanced proficiency in 3D geological modelling and structural interpretation techniques.
  • Experience integrating seismic attribute maps, frequency decomposition and well log data.
  • Ability to generate facies, structural and property maps for reservoir characterisation.
  • Skill in constructing static models that support well placement and reservoir simulation.
  • Familiarity with multidisciplinary workflows involving geophysicists and drilling engineers.
  • Knowledge of exploration and development processes in conventional offshore settings.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and interpret geological cross-sections, structural and facies maps, and 3D structural models.
  • Integrate geophysical data such as attribute maps, frequency decomposition and iso-proportional slicing to evaluate well opportunities.
  • Generate property maps to assess reservoir heterogeneity and support creation of iso-property maps.
  • Build static models (3D geological models) to support well placement decisions and numerical reservoir simulations.
  • Review and oversee development of 3D geological models for development and appraisal wells.
  • Participate in planning and monitoring of subsurface support activities executed by HQ subsurface services or external contractors.
  • Analyse and correlate geological and geophysical data from development and appraisal wells, including well logs.
  • Ensure all activities comply with regulatory requirements, legislation and Harbour Energy HSES Procedures.

Benefits

  • Inclusive workplace where individuals can bring their whole selves and feel recognised for the value they add.
  • Commitment to recruiting, retaining and promoting people based on unique skills regardless of race, gender or background.
