About this role

Dewberry is seeking a Consulting GIS Specialist to lead delivery of enterprise geospatial services in support of federal clients. This role provides technical leadership, operational management, and advanced GIS application development for a multi-disciplinary GIS Service Center.

You will manage day-to-day operations, including workload planning, staffing, scheduling, and performance oversight. The role involves supervising GIS specialists, developers, and technicians, ensuring compliance with client policies and enterprise GIS governance.

You will oversee enterprise GIS systems, including ArcGIS Enterprise and cloud environments, ensuring system availability, performance, and security. Coordination with IT teams on system architecture, upgrades, and integrations will be key.

This position offers the opportunity to develop custom GIS applications and web-based solutions using ESRI technologies. You will support mission-critical programs in water resources, environmental compliance, land management, and infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience leading enterprise GIS operations in a service center environment
  • Proficiency with ESRI technologies including ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Online
  • Experience with custom GIS application development using modern programming frameworks
  • Knowledge of geospatial database administration, system architecture, and security requirements
  • Familiarity with federal client policies, standards, and enterprise GIS governance
  • Ability to supervise and mentor GIS specialists, developers, and technicians
  • Experience supporting geospatial programs in water resources, environmental compliance, or land management
  • Strong analytical skills for advanced geospatial modeling and data-driven decision support

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the GIS Service Center, including workload planning, staffing, scheduling, and performance oversight
  • Supervise GIS specialists, developers, and technicians; assign tasks and monitor production quality, schedule adherence, and deliverable completeness
  • Oversee administration and maintenance of enterprise GIS systems, including ArcGIS Enterprise, cloud environments, and geospatial databases
  • Lead design and development of custom GIS applications, tools, and workflows using ESRI technologies and modern programming frameworks
  • Develop web-based GIS solutions, dashboards, and data services using platforms such as ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise
  • Provide advanced geospatial analysis, modeling, and visualization to support programs such as water resource management and emergency response mapping
  • Serve as primary point of contact for GIS technical support and user engagement, including help desk support
  • Prepare and deliver status reports, management reports, and performance metrics to stakeholders
