About this role

Ramboll is seeking a motivated Geologist/Hydrogeologist to join our interdisciplinary team in Syracuse, New York. In this role, you will contribute to innovative and sustainable site solutions for an international client base, working under the direction of senior geologists and engineers.

Your day-to-day work will involve coordinating and performing field tasks for environmental investigation and remediation projects at primarily industrial and hazardous waste sites across Upstate New York and the NYC Metro area. Field duties include soil, groundwater, sediment, and air sampling, as well as subcontractor oversight for drilling and monitoring well installations.

You will collaborate closely with project coordinators and managers to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. The position requires approximately 80% field work with some overnight travel, and you will be expected to complete detailed field documentation such as job safety analysis forms, field notes, and chain-of-custody forms.

Requirements

  • B.S. or M.S. in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, or related discipline
  • 0 to 3 years of technical and field investigation experience including soil/groundwater sampling, soil excavation oversight, well installations/development, soil vapor/indoor air sampling, and subcontractor oversight
  • Valid driver's license
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification with a current 8-hour refresher is a plus
  • Ability to work with field meters, test kits, instruments, pumps, data loggers, and other equipment
  • GIT license or eligibility
  • Working knowledge of MS Office; familiarity with Adobe Acrobat, ArcGIS, or AutoCAD is a plus
  • Physical ability to perform long periods of standing, walking over rough terrain, lifting, and recurring bending in all weather conditions

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and perform field tasks for environmental investigation and remediation projects at industrial and hazardous waste sites
  • Conduct sampling of soil, groundwater, sediment, and air
  • Oversee subcontractors for drilling, monitoring well installations, and site reconnaissance
  • Work with project coordinators and managers to ensure projects are completed on time and budget
  • Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to complete tasks
  • Complete detailed field documentation including job safety analysis forms, field reports, field notes, and chain-of-custody forms
  • Contribute to preparation of work plans, reports, and other documentation, and perform analytical data management
  • Assist in technical evaluations of data commensurate with technical skills
