Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Hydrogeology Intern in Tampa or Clearwater, FL offices for summer 2026. The position allows applying geologic, hydrogeologic, and scientific academic knowledge to real-world situations. Interns learn business skills needed for a successful consulting career while working part-time 20-40 hours per week for 13-15 weeks.

Daily tasks include up to 80% fieldwork such as soil and groundwater sampling, aquifer testing, drilling, and contractor oversight after training. Assist with geologic/hydrogeologic and engineering calculations using computer-based tools. Perform data input, analysis, technical writing of reports, and prepare maps, tables, figures.

Interact with engineers, geologists, office staff, CADD operators, contractors, and construction personnel while following instructions. Requirements

  • Outstanding academic credentials
  • Exceptional interpersonal, technical writing, oral and written communication and problem-solving skills
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license, reliable transportation, and satisfactory driving record for business travel to project sites
  • Experience with ArcView, CADD, and/or Microsoft Office (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Conducting fieldwork (up to 80%) such as soil and groundwater sampling, aquifer testing, drilling and contractor oversight following training
  • Assisting with geologic/hydrogeologic calculations using computer-based technical tools
  • Performing technical writing of reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals
  • Inputting and analyzing data, including preparing maps, tables, and figures
  • Assisting with engineering calculations using computer-based technical tools
  • Following instructions and interacting with engineers, geologists, office administrative staff, CADD operators, contractors and construction personnel
  • Traveling locally or driving to project sites as needed
