About this role

Brown and Caldwell’s Private Sector Business Unit is looking for a self-motivated Hydrogeologist/Geologist or Environmental Engineer to join the Phoenix Office. This entry-level position offers excellent growth potential. The successful candidate will contribute to an established team of talented hydrogeologists, scientists, and engineers.

In this role, participate on multiple projects including groundwater production well siting, design, and installation; water resource planning and permitting; groundwater recharge, storage, and recovery; soil and groundwater investigation/remediation; Phase I and Phase II site assessments; and permit compliance groundwater monitoring.

The position involves basic foundational work in geology and hydrogeology, carrying out routine tasks and solving elementary problems under close supervision. Expect approximately 60% local onsite work plus 25% national travel. Remaining work can be completed remotely or in the Phoenix office.

Learn and apply fundamental skills and knowledge in geology, hydrogeology, geochemistry, and geophysics. Work alongside experienced colleagues and supervisors for guidance. Demonstrate flexibility to adapt to evolving project needs.

Requirements

  • Basic understanding of geology, hydrogeology, geophysics, and geochemistry
  • Proficiency in using sampling equipment
  • Basic analytical skills to interpret geological data and information
  • Basic proficiency in using software and tools associated with geological studies
  • Typically 0-2 years of related work experience in geology and hydrogeology or related field

Responsibilities

  • Participate in groundwater production well siting, design, and installation
  • Participate in water resource planning and permitting
  • Participate in groundwater recharge, storage, and recovery
  • Participate in soil and groundwater investigation/remediation
  • Participate in Phase I and Phase II site assessments and investigations
  • Assist in field investigations, including water and soil sampling
  • Assist with basic well logging and field data collection tasks
  • Help in the examination and interpretation of geological, hydrogeological, geophysical, and geochemical data
