About this role
This opportunity involves leading geological efforts on projects for the Earth and Environment Team. The role supports clients in oil and gas, transportation, mining, and industrial sectors through geological and geotechnical solutions. Work includes both office and field activities across various project types.
The selected candidate will conduct field assignments including site mapping, drilling supervision, and borehole logging. Additional duties involve performing geologic desktop reviews using LiDAR mapping for hazard identification. Travel up to forty percent of the time may be required for local and national projects.
Team environment focuses on fast-paced project delivery with emphasis on safety and compliance. Collaboration occurs with project teams on data evaluation and report preparation. Fieldwork may occur in all seasonal conditions while operating equipment and vehicles.
Opportunities exist to work on linear alignments for pipelines and infrastructure siting within the Appalachian Basin. As part of a global company, assignments beyond the region may arise. The role supports professional growth through diverse geohazard and geotechnical projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in geology, engineering geology, or related field
- 7-10 years of relevant post education experience
- Excellent research skills with analytical mindset
- Familiarity with relevant laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements
- Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally
- Proficient self-leadership with ability to manage tasks and provide proactive communication
Responsibilities
- Work with project teams on geotechnical and geological engineering projects that involve field observations, data evaluation, and office work
- Conduct field assignments such as site mapping, drilling supervision, borehole logging, test pit logging, and construction quality assurance monitoring
- Perform geologic desktop review of LiDAR mapping and field reconnaissance for the identification of geologic hazards
- Contribute to geotechnical data and recommendation reports including compiling field data, performing calculations, and preparing borehole logs and cross-sections
- Manage local and national travel up to forty percent of the time with possible long-term assignments at project sites
- Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures while safely performing work in the office and field
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct
