About this role

At Uni Systems, we are working towards turning digital visions into reality. We are continuously growing and looking for a professional Web GIS Developer to join our UniQue Ispra team. The overall goal is to provide technical support to the European Institution in developing database and front-end components for climate monitoring systems.

You will maintain and enhance web platforms hosted by the European Institution to provide online access to tools for international user communities. Develop web-based interfaces for eStation 3.0 and Climate Station based on user community requirements. Prepare installation and upgrade packages for applications, including database updates.

Work closely with customers in the public sector while overseeing installation and maintenance of applications on development and production servers. Maintain the dedicated eStation website, including content publication. Support preparation of training materials and conduct user support sessions as needed.

Monitor project progress to provide excellent client service and added value. Identify profitable opportunities and build strong, long-lasting client relationships. Contribute to continuous development in a supportive environment focused on climate monitoring technologies.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree with at least 5 years of relevant professional experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with ExtJS and PostgreSQL
  • Strong knowledge of web application development, application design, and GIS technologies
  • Experience with DBMS administration and development (PostgreSQL/PostGIS)
  • Proficient in Web GIS tools (OpenLayers, Leaflet), GIS servers (MapServer, GeoServer), OGC web services (WMS, WCS, WPS), and front-end technologies (JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, Drupal, PHP)
  • Basic knowledge of Earth Observation data processing, GDAL, Google Earth Engine, and Python
  • Familiarity with Windows and Linux operating systems and containerized applications (Docker)
  • Proficient in English (B1 level or higher)

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain web-based interfaces for the eStation 3.0 and Climate Station, based on user community requirements
  • Prepare installation and upgrade packages for applications, including database updates, and validate their functionality
  • Create and update user documentation, including GUI descriptions and manuals
  • Support preparation of training materials for web interfaces, including screenshots, diagrams, tutorials, and videos; provide user support and conduct training sessions as needed
  • Maintain and update the dedicated eStation website, including content publication
  • Oversee installation and maintenance of applications on development and production servers, including web clients
