The Wellsite Geologist acts as the onsite representative to provide geological technical support to drilling operations. Serve 400,000 clients in 140 countries, bettering society across all businesses.

Evaluate offset data before drilling begins and analyse formations while drilling using cuttings, gas, MWD and LWD tools, plus wireline logs. Compare drilling data with predictions made during exploration and identify drilling hazards. Suggest ways to optimise drilling performance and advise on suspending or continuing drilling.

Advise operations personnel on site and in the office, attend rig meetings after each shift, and update the operations geologist. Act as the representative of the onshore geology team and supervise mudlogging, MWD, LWD, core logging, and wireline services teams. Ensure quality control and communicate regularly with onshore operations offices.

Keep detailed records and complete daily, weekly, and post-well reporting logs. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology
  • Minimum 8 years of related experience with wellsite drilling operations support
  • Fit for offshore trips
  • Experience analysing cuttings, gas data, MWD and LWD information
  • Knowledge of formation evaluation from wireline logs
  • Ability to supervise mudlogging and logging services
  • Proficiency in identifying drilling hazards and optimising performance
