About this role
WSP is seeking an Associate Hydrogeologist to join our Ground and Water Team in the UK. This is an exciting opportunity to work with our industry-leading Hydrogeology team, with direct mentoring and career development from the hydrogeologists who develop and maintain the UK industry standard software ConSim and LandSim.
In this role, you will play a key part in the day-to-day delivery of projects, working closely with and being supported by other team members, Project Managers, and Directors within the UK and Ireland team. You will lead projects and teams, providing high-level environmental consultancy services to both external and internal clients.
You will have technical oversight and guidance of people, teams, proposals, and projects, and promote an inclusive workplace. The Associate Hydrogeologist is also responsible for evaluating opportunities, identifying potential leads to create project proposals, and maintaining strong business relationships to deliver commercial targets.

Requirements
- Achieved Chartership or equivalent with a relevant professional body.
- Proven experience in hydrogeological risk assessment, dewatering, groundwater resource evaluation, pumping tests, yield tests, modelling, borehole prognosis, abstraction, and geothermal.
- Strong project management skills with commercial awareness and accountability.
- Ability to provide technical direction and robust reviews of technical work.
- Experience in developing proposals for complex opportunities.
- Proficiency in hydrogeological software including ConSim, LandSim, P20, FeFlow, Modflow, or Seep/W.
- Strong client relationship management and business development skills.
Responsibilities
- Lead projects and line manage staff, providing high-level environmental consultancy services to external and internal clients.
- Manage complex projects with strong commercial awareness and accountability, including timely completion of finance systems and invoicing.
- Lead by example on process, procedure, and protocols.
- Provide technical direction, including robust reviews of technical work prepared by others with constructive and developmental feedback.
- Build strong relationships with existing clients, identify opportunities for Ground & Water and the wider WSP, and proactively develop new client relationships.
- Manage hydrogeological data, develop conceptual models, and interpret data.
- Use and learn software such as ConSim, LandSim, P20, FeFlow, Modflow, and Seep/W.
- Develop proposals for complex opportunities, such as technically challenging projects or those with values greater than £100k net revenue.
