About this role

As a GIS Developer with WSP, you will sit inside the Transformation & Digital Insights service line, creating bespoke GIS functionality and web applications in answer to client requirements from various disciplines. These projects pose interesting questions requiring complex answers beyond out-of-the-box software solutions.

You will design, code, integrate, test, and deploy software, maintaining QA on code and fixing bugs as needed. Work closely with the Database and Software Development team to align GIS development with existing software, and collaborate with the GIS team to deliver deliverables to tight deadlines.

Collaboration is key; you must explain complex GIS processes to staff and clients with varying digital data knowledge. Innovation is highly desired, requiring a desire to innovate and use initiative to implement the best solution. Attention to detail and appreciation of quality in everything produced are essential.

Provide GIS technical mentoring to junior staff and assist in developing efficient working practices. Stay abreast of emerging geospatial trends and identify opportunities to integrate GIS processes with other teams within the service line to add value.

Requirements

  • Core principles of GIS and GI data management with enterprise geodatabases
  • Geospatial data processing and analysis with Python using ArcPy
  • Geospatial front-end web development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript including React) with ESRI JavaScript API, Leaflet, or OpenLayers
  • Experience with Experience Builder SDK and Angular development
  • Visual Studio, .NET, C# and scripting/application code generation
  • Experience using or creating APIs and working with Azure functions
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS Pro and ESRI desktop applications
  • Experience with ESRI and/or open-source geospatial technology stacks (ArcGIS Enterprise, Online, Portal, PostGIS, GeoServer)

Responsibilities
