As a Principal Engineering Geologist, you'll join the dynamic Ground Engineering team in the Buildings Unit, shaping the future of ground engineering on landmark projects across the UK, Ireland, and beyond.

Produce desk studies, design and manage ground investigations, supervise activities, and develop insightful ground models to guide design and risk assessment. Create comprehensive Ground Investigation Reports and assess ground parameters for project success. Take ownership of budgeting and cost control while partnering with clients.

Primarily based in-office in Glasgow or Edinburgh, you'll conduct site visits, client meetings, and GI supervision for variety. Work across sectors like defence, health, education, transportation, maritime, water, and energy in the diverse Buildings market.

Requirements

  • BSc or MSc in Engineering Geology
  • Experience producing desk studies for ground engineering projects
  • Proficiency in designing, specifying, and managing ground investigations
  • Skills in supervising GI activities and developing ground models
  • Ability to prepare Ground Investigation Reports and assess ground parameters
  • Knowledge of budgeting and cost control in geotechnical projects
  • Competence in risk assessment for built environment projects

Responsibilities

  • Produce desk studies and design, specify, and manage ground investigations (GI) for real-world challenges
  • Supervise GI activities and transform investigation data into insightful ground models
  • Create comprehensive Ground Investigation Reports (GIRs) and assess ground parameters
  • Take ownership of budgeting and cost control as a trusted internal and client partner
  • Collaborate with and mentor the next generation of geologists
  • Guide design and risk assessment using ground models
