About this role

AECOM is seeking a Hydrogeologist to join its team in the Greater Toronto Area, reporting directly to the Hydrogeology Operations Manager. This full-time role involves working collaboratively with members of the Ontario and Canadian Geosciences and Remediation Teams, as well as external subcontractors and clients.

Day-to-day responsibilities include contributing to external proposals, leading quality control and scheduling, and mentoring junior hydrogeology staff across Ontario. The role also involves planning and leading field investigation programs, directing the collection and analysis of field data, and overseeing subcontracts and purchase orders.

The Hydrogeologist will work on projects across Canada, including contaminated site remediation, water supply assessment and development, groundwater modeling, and hydrogeological characterization for mine development, operations, and closure. The role requires liaising with regulatory authorities, landowners, and other third parties, as well as interpreting regulations and managing permitting with provincial and municipal bodies.

Requirements

  • B.Sc. in Geology, Hydrogeology, Engineering Geology, or a related discipline.
  • 4+ years of hydrogeology work experience.
  • A valid driver's license with no restrictions.
  • M.Sc. in Geology, Hydrogeology, Engineering Geology, or a related discipline (preferred).
  • 6+ years of hydrogeology work experience (preferred).
  • Registered in good standing with PGO and/or PEO (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the preparation of external proposals for direct client assignments and the Hydrogeology components of multi-disciplinary AECOM proposal submissions.
  • Support or lead duties in quality control, planning, cost estimating, and scheduling.
  • Mentor junior hydrogeology staff locally and throughout Ontario.
  • Work on hydrogeological projects across Canada including contaminated sites, remediation, water supply assessment, water supply development, groundwater modeling, and hydrogeological characterization for mine development, operations, and closure.
  • Manage and coordinate projects, undertaking technical work in accordance with contract scope, budget, and company, professional, quality, and legislative standards.
  • Plan and lead field investigation programs, directing the collection and analysis of field data.
  • Oversee and implement subcontracts and purchase orders, managing subcontractors throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Oversee, conduct, and analyze aquifer tests, water quality analysis, single well response tests, and other hydrologic analyses.
