About this role
Reporting to the Manager, Geoscience Conventional Heavy Oil, the Senior Geophysicist works in a multi-disciplinary team to optimize reservoir development plans for Cenovus business needs. This role applies geophysical interpretation techniques, including advanced seismic inversion, to characterize reservoir complexity. It identifies risks and proposes development opportunities to support long-term strategy.
The role involves planning annual strat well programs with geologists, reservoir engineers, and earthworks teams to delineate reservoirs. Provide quality control for seismic data processing using business-appropriate parameters. Interpret and generate depth-converted seismic surfaces for well planning, placement, and real-time drilling.
Collaborate with geologists, geophysicists, acquisition teams, engineers, and regulatory groups to plan 2D and 3D seismic programs. These efforts reduce delineation and reservoir risk while optimizing production. Provide geophysical input for geomodels, regulatory submissions, and resource reports with documentation for reviews.
Support workflow optimization projects to improve geoscience and reservoir engineering processes. Foster effective communication and consistency in development practices across the team. Contribute to successful execution of development plans in a fast-paced environment.
