This Lead Field Geologist (Natural Resource Specialist 3) position exists in the Geological Survey & Services (GS&S) program. The GS&S program conducts geoscience surveys of the state. It serves as the cost-effective centralized source of geoscientific information.

Lead field operations to map geological features and assess natural resources statewide. Collect samples and data during geoscience surveys. Analyze findings to support mineral industries and hazard evaluations.

Work within the Department of Geology and Mineral Industries in Portland. Collaborate with program teams on statewide initiatives. Contribute to centralized geoscientific data services as an employee position.

Requirements

  • Expertise in field geology and geoscience surveying
  • Knowledge of Oregon's geological formations and resources
  • Experience leading field teams and operations

  • Familiarity with GIS for spatial data analysis
  • Understanding of mineral industries and natural resource assessment
