About this role
Join CIFOR-ICRAF as a Spatial Data Scientist specializing in remote sensing for geosciences and ecosystem assessment. Leverage optical and SAR data to analyze vegetation, precipitation, and land surface temperatures. Support initiatives like the Great Green Wall through analytical outputs.
Process optical data from Sentinel-2 and Landsat 8/9, alongside SAR primarily from Sentinel-1. Conduct timeseries analysis to detect trends and anomalies. Develop predictive models and apply machine learning for mapping ecosystem health using field and remote sensing data.
Supervise a team of junior spatial data scientists and developers. Work closely with the SHARED stakeholder engagement team to deliver monitoring outputs. Contribute to stakeholder events for decision support tools and platforms.
Lead internal capacity development seminars and partner workshops on spatial data processing. Contribute to micro-dashboard development for the Global Resilience Impact Tracker. Lead scientific papers, proposal development, and communication products.
