About this role

Part of a larger team delivering high quality technology solutions to the business. Design, develop and install advanced software solutions on the Smallworld GIS platform. Build high-quality, innovative and fully performing software in compliance with internal architecture, development and design standards.

Design, modify, develop, write, implement and troubleshoot software programming applications using Magik and Smallworld tools. Perform database administration activities related to VMDS and support system administration tasks. Analyze and troubleshoot issues within a large, mature codebase while contributing to system stability and performance.

Work within a Waterfall or Agile methodology and collaborate heavily with Project Management, Business Analyst and Infrastructure teams. Support Smallworld Electric Office and Smallworld PNI to meet business and technical needs. Work with Smallworld GSS and FME tools when applicable.

Participate in the testing process through test review and analysis, test witnessing and certification of software. Support and install software applications while ensuring ongoing enhancements meet internal standards and best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related technical field
  • 7 years relevant work experience required; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Experience working in Smallworld Electric Office
  • Experience working in Smallworld PNI

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, enhance, and support applications on the Smallworld GIS platform
  • Develop and maintain solutions using Magik and Smallworld application development tools
  • Work with Smallworld Electric Office and Smallworld PNI to support business and technical needs
  • Perform database administration and support activities related to VMDS
  • Support Smallworld system administration tasks as needed
  • Analyze and troubleshoot issues within a large, mature codebase
  • Work with Smallworld GSS and FME tools when applicable
  • Contribute to system stability, performance, and ongoing enhancements
